Membership

Membership of Barton Sub Aqua Club is based on a calendar year i.e. 1st January to 31st December (same as the Sub Aqua Association <SAA>).

The fee for 2007 is £130 for a full diving member and includes free use of the club’s swimming pool facilities plus the SAA fee (currently £43). Both Barton SAC and the SAA review the fee base annually (for Barton this is usually at the AGM normally in early December prior to the end of the club’s year) and will apply for both renewals and new entrants from January 1st.

Any person joining the club as an untrained diver will also be charged a one off fee of £10 to cover the SAA qualification wallet and will also have to purchase the SAA dive manual ‘Lets Dive’ and new work book at a current cost of £25. The full fee will be levied on new members up to the end June, after which a discount will be applied (see below).

From July onwards the SAA operates the following discount scheme:

July and August - £6 reduction

September - £10 reduction

October through December – remainder of year plus next calendar year (maximum of 15 months)

These concessions apply only to full SAA membership.

For renewing members or those who join in the first half of the year; fees can either be paid in total or by installments via a standing order from the members’ bank? The proviso being that the first payment includes the whole of the SAA annual fee; this is in order to satisfy insurance and diving guidelines. This method of payment is intended to have a final payment in October.
